8月份向全省级以上资质和部分级资质的钢结构企业寄发了《江苏省建筑钢结构优质工程评选办法》、《江苏省建筑钢结构优质工程考核细则》和《江苏省建筑钢结构优质工程申报表》。同时在《新华日报》和“江苏建设工程网”、“江苏省建筑钢结构网”和《江苏钢结构简讯》上发布了公告。

协会安排了人专门负责网站的建设和维护，及时发布有关信息。4月份，协会派人出席了中国建筑业协会建筑钢结构专业委员会召开的全国钢结构年会；9月份组织部分混凝土企业的负责人出席了中国建筑业协会混凝土分会届次理事大会。目前钢结构企业会员有50家，不到全省钢结构企业总数的10%。钢结构企业对参加协会组织的活动不积极。需尽快采取有效措施改变这一状况。今年，钢结构专业委员会，新增了专职人员，添置了专门的办公室和办公设施，创办了内部简讯等。

《江苏钢结构简讯》于7月份创刊，9月份出了第期，每期免费发行数量650份。根据行业发展需要和协会工作的新思路，从2006年起改为《江苏钢结构》杂志，仍为内部免费发行。协会网站共设有2个主栏目，即：“预拌混凝土”和“建筑钢结构”，分别下设子栏目。

在业内引起较大的反响，得到了企业的普遍和支持。6月份组织了“全省钢结构行业发展现状的”。采取企业填报和实地抽查，同时与省建管局提供的“2004年度全省钢结构企业统计报表”相结合。通过统计汇总和分析，对全省钢结构行业的发展现状有了初步的了解。由于企业提供给省局的统计数据与企业实际情况有较大出入，而大部分企业对协会的工作不予重视，未能提足够的资料，因此，钢结构专业委员会起草的《江苏省钢结构行业发展现状的报告》未能正式定稿。

到截止日期，共收到9单位、16个工程的申报。经评审委员会的专家初审，有12个工程基本符合入围条件。10月份，协会组织考核小组对通过初审的12个工程逐一进行了现场考核评分。11月5日组织召开了“江苏省建筑钢结构优质工程评审会”。8月初完成《2004年度江苏省建筑钢结构企业评比办法》的定稿。8月28日在《新华日报》和“江苏建设工程网”和“江苏省建筑钢结构网”上发布了评比公告，并将“评比通知”和“评比办法”寄发给了各钢结构企业。
